2023 Housing Finance in Africa Yearbook - 14th edition

Amidst a crisis of affordable housing finance in Africa, practitioners in the sector are finding innovative ways to make their projects work. Our 2023 Housing Finance in Africa Yearbook–in its 14th edition now–focuses on these examples of innovation, in all areas of the value chain. These include case studies of projects on the ground demonstrating innovation in housing finance, building materials, construction methods, public-private partnerships, targeting of beneficiaries, and construction finance, amongst others.

The Yearbook is special because of its unique contribution to the sector. With an intentional focus on the lower end of the market, the publication is a collection of country profiles authored by housing and housing finance efforts across the continent—-most in-country. This year there were a record 73 authors and co-authors for the 55 profiles. Eighteen of this year’s profiles were authored originally in French.

The full Yearbook can be downloaded as a single pdf below, and is also available in French. You can also download the regional infographic pages as separate files: Central Africa, East Africa, North Africa, Southern Africa, and West Africa.
