2024 Housing Finance in Africa Yearbook - 15th Edition!
2024 marks a special milestone, as the annual Housing Finance in Africa Yearbook celebrates its 15th edition! All through its 15 editions, the Yearbook remains unique because of its critical focus on the lower end of the market. Throughout the general overview of housing, housing finance, and property markets in each country, we pay particular attention to affordable housing – access to housing and housing finance by households at the bottom of the income pyramid.
This 2024 edition focuses on actual, on-the-ground examples of affordable housing projects, highlighting their typology, target market, financing mechanisms and delivery model. Text boxes in each profile feature these case-studies and together these examples showcase the immense breadth of affordable housing being delivered across the continent.
With over 70 authors and editors, the Yearbook is an extraordinary collaborative production, with each housing profile authored or updated by different housing and housing finance experts– where possible, we team up with in-country experts, while in some instances the authors are based elsewhere. This year there were 51 authors and co-authors for the 55 profiles.
We hope the Yearbook supports and stimulates your own work in the sector, and provides resources and contacts to enable further innovation.
The full Yearbook can be downloaded as a single pdf below, and will also be available in French very soon.
