Affordable and other housing markets in Msunduzi

This report provides a profile of the affordable and other housing markets in Msunduzi Metropolitan Municipality (KwaZulu Natal). The report is part of a series and includes eight other metropolitan municipality. The affordable housing market comprises residential properties whose value is less than R 500 000 and is acquired by households earning less than about R15,000 a month.  The importance of the affordable housing market in South Africa cannot be overstated – of the 6 million residential properties on the South African Deeds Registry, over half (3,4 million or 58%) are valued at less than R500 000.
