Affordable Housing and the Climate Imperative: Insights from the 2022 Housing Finance in Africa Yearbook
2022 brought with it immense challenges, from floods and other natural disasters, to the disastrous impact of high inflation which is prevalent across the globe. The 2022 Housing Finance in Africa Yearbook, now in its 13th edition, draws out those common challenges to investment in, and development of, affordable housing and housing finance, at the same time that it unpacks some of the unique innovations and responses that are emerging across the continent.
Following on the COP27 Conference in Egypt, the 2022 Yearbook includes a focus on climate change and was launched in Cairo in November 2022. This presentation summarises the main themes in this year’s edition, also set out in the introductory essay on Affordable Housing and the Climate Imperative.
