This paper takes an historical look of how the housing sector has progressed in South Africa. While the study analyses the South Africa housing sector performance, it also focuses on the new human settlements plan by government. The paper highlights the housing pressures through an analysis of the effective demand, the residential opportunities by providing an overview of the housing supply, and the consequence of demand and supply.  A presentation is also available.
