Big Data and Analytics: Introducing a Data Agenda for Africa
The Abuja International Housing Show (AIHS) dubbed as “Africa’s largest housing and construction show” is an annual event that took off over a decade ago and the latest 13th edition was held on the 23rd- 26th of July 2019 in Abuja, Nigeria. The theme for 2019 was premised on “Driving Sustainable Housing Finance Models in the Midst of Global Uncertainty.’’
On the second day of the event, there was a session focused on the financial trends in innovating and mitigating against risk and uncertainty in Housing Finance. This presentation provides an overview on Big Data and Analytics as a critical tool to improving residential real estate by unpacking the key factors influencing the understanding of housing markets , market intelligence and data as fundamental market infrastructure and underlines alternative strategies of navigating contexts with minimal data. In conclusion, the presentation highlights CAHF’s vision and mission for a Data Agenda for Africa that seeks to develop a housing and housing finance data universe in Africa that provides regulators, policymakers, developers and housing financiers with accurate, relevant and current data.
