NMA Dashboard: User Guide

We have used Tableau to produce the Nairobi Metropolitan Area Dashboard.  This is an interactive platform, that allows the user to explore data spatially and graphically.  The dashboard provides an array of data points on the status of current, underway and planned housing projects including their precise location, price points, density, unit typology, utilities, service charge and amenities. The data was collected by CAHF, drawing on developer websites, brochures and some interviews.  2022 data was collected in November and December of 2022 and is current at that date.  2021 data was collected throughout that year and was current at that date.  Looking forward, CAHF and its partners will continue to collect this data on an annual basis, inviting developers to also review, amend and submit their data on an ad hoc basis throughout the year.

Given the enormity of the data collection process, we expect you to find some errors.  Please let us know what you find, and provide us with the data necessary to make any corrections.  If you know of a development that has not been included, you can send an email through to Beatrice and will update the dashboard accordingly.  Over time, it is our hope that every developer in the NMA (and later, across all of Kenya) includes their projects on this dashboard.

The best way to use the dashboard is to play with it.  Hover over the different sections and see what is revealed.  Data can be filtered in the top section, and then this changes what is presented in the bubble graph, the map, and in the sections below.  Any questions can be sent through to Beatrice Mwangi on beatrice@housingfinanceafrica.org
