Scoping Study: Governance of urban land markets in Zimbabwe
Urban Land Mark commissioned a Scoping Study on the Governance Urban Land Markets in Zimbabwe. The report reviews formal and informal land markets in relation to planning. The report sheds light on the need to build stronger institutions that support better functioning of urban land markets. It also highlights challenges to and opportunities for strengthening the performance and responsiveness of urban land markets, particularly to the needs of the urban poor. The study further points out the multiple pressures, including increasing levels of poverty, that influence the functioning of urban land markets in Zimbabwe and the systems inherited from pre‐independence and progressively adapted since then.
