Scoping the Demand for Housing Microfinance in Africa: Status, Opportunities and Challenges

This is a desk review of housing microfinance in Africa, setting out the current (2009) state of practice for HMF in Africa.  A key aspect of the research involves the development of a methodology to calculate an estimate of demand for HMF. The research hopes to assist a wide range of practitioners involved in housing microfinance to actively develop their plans and products to meet the needs of low income Africans wishing to improve their housing circumstances. To achieve this, this research explore several dimensions including  housing microfinance demand and supply side indicators and the regulatory and policy environment relating to this sector.
