Status of the Built Environment: July-December 2019
The Status of the Built Environment Report for the period June to December, 2019 was published by the Architectural Association of Kenya (AAK). The report presents highlights in the real estate sector, tracking development sin land, financing, infrastructure, policy and legislation. The report also presents developments in the Government’s Big 4 Agenda on Affordable Housing.
The report published new data on development control applications and approvals from the Nairobi City County Government for the period July to December, 2019. From this data it is evident that the bulk of development within the county is residential development, which comprised of 71.6% of all development applications in this period.
The report also published data on the projects registered with the National Construction Authority (NCA). From this database, the majority of projects logged with the NCA were building works, with the bulk of these (75%) of these ranging from KES 5 million (US$ 49 792) to KES 50 million (US$ 497 921). Majority of applications logged with the NCA were private projects.
